Persephone's Promise is a series of stories and illustrations that describes Persephone's own trek from wrong career to right livelihood. The book does not tell you what to do, it shows you. Unlike other self help books that tell you what you "should" do or give you the briefest of anecdotes, Persephone pulls the thread through the entire story of her career search, strand by strand. When the reader is finished, they have an actual roadmap for how to find and create work that suits them perfectly. In addition, they are inspired that by doing so, they have the possibility to change their entire outlook on life as well.
Stories have always been the greatest teacher. And Persephone's tales are not just engaging and true to life, they are case studies of how the theories of the career search can actually play out in the reader's life. While some of the stories illustrate the depths of despair where all you can wonder is "what the hell happened to me here?" the book is uplifting and upbeat, with a focus on how your own life is the greatest tool to find what fits you in the world of work.
Persephone has many roles in the arena of personal transformation; an expert in training people to become entrepreneurs, a leader in the International Coach Federation, a national coaching association, and a builder of The Forge, a burgeoning spiritual organization whose members number some of the major figures in the American spirituality movement. She is writing Persephone's Promise with Joanne Kabak, a Newsday columnist and published author who has collaborated on several non-fiction books.
What is extraordinary about the book is that it is, in essence, ordinary. Everyone can find a career they really love. That is Persephone's Promise.
